AND THE TOP 3 REASONS WHY YOU SHOULD

One of the reasons I love Squarespace websites is for the ease of the platform itself. There are so many types of content blocks that make it easy to add different types of content to your website. Your Squarespace website doesn’t need to be just images and text. Video is one of the ways you can make your Squarespace more dynamic and interactive for your users. Today I am going to walk you through the different ways you can add video to your Squarespace website and the benefit of doing so. It’s super easy - I promise!

BENEFITS OF ADDING VIDEO TO YOUR SQUARESPACE WEBSITE

  1. Videos can help you sell more. In order to sell more, businesses need to continue to nurture and grow the know, like and trust factor. People like to know who they are buying from and seeing you in a video can help them feel more connected to you and your business. Still images just can’t portray personality like a video can.

  2. Videos can keep people on your website longer. Sometimes pieces of content are just better absorbed and easier to digest in video form. Think about the last time you read a long article or blog post. Most people would rather watch Youtube or listen to a podcast while they multi-task. If someone would rather watch a 3 minute video on your website then skim and sift through a bunch of text, it’s worth it! It can help your bounce rate and the longer you can get someone to stay on your website, often the better your conversion rate will be.

  3. Videos can make your website feel more memorable and interactive with the viewer, helping them to remember you and your business. Instead of a boring website with stock images and text, your video content can help break up the website and make it feel more personable.

DIFFERENT PLACES TO ADD VIDEO ON YOUR SQUARESPACE WEBSITE

There are 2 different places you can add a video to your Squarespace website. You can either add video to your Squarespace website as full-width videos using the background on one of your website sections, or you can add your videos as part of your website content inline with your other content.

VIDEO CONTENT IDEAS TO TRY

  • A full-width brand video (B-roll shots of you working or products in your business with a voice over of your brand story or your mission)

  • A moving background to add more visual interest. (You can create something like this using one of our favorite tools, Canva. If you have the pro version, you can search and use all types of pre-made video content.)

  • How-to videos within your content articles. (I love Loom to create ours!)

  • Add in your Youtube video to repurpose your content into a blog post.

  • A product or service video that goes into more visual content about your product or service.

There are so many different things you can do with video! Try some out to make your site more viewer friendly and memorable!

THAT’S A WRAP

We hope this was helpful for you! As veterans of Squarespace, we are super excited that Squarespace now lets you upload .mp4 video files instead of just Youtube and Vimeo links.
